ATC Communications - Idaho's First Gig Certified Internet Provider

June 13, 2017

Syringa Networks member company, ATC Communications, was recently acknowledged for being Idaho’s first Gig Certified Internet Provider, according to NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association. The locally owned and operated company has completed full-exchange fiber builds in both Albion and Malad City, Idaho, with fiber continuing to roll out in other exchanges as well. Their gigabit capacity speeds were verified by NTCA earlier this year, after the culmination of nearly 300 miles of fiber were plowed directly to every subscriber’s door - a term the communications industry has coined Fiber To The Home (FTTH). FTTH is the next-generation level of internet connectivity and is commonly referred to as the gold standard for internet connections. Thanks to ATC, over 1,650 homes and businesses are now enjoying this advanced level of connectivity, while living in some of the most remote regions of Idaho. ATC plans to add another 100 homes and businesses before the end of 2017.

Providing an entire city or exchange access to Gigabit speeds is extremely rare in Idaho. According to BroadbandNow.com, only 2.5% of Idahoans have access to such speeds, leaving our state ranked 41st on the totem pole of “most connected states”. However, with ATC’s newly constructed fiber networks in Albion and Malad City, and their continuing effort to expand fiber to other exchanges around the state, those statistics will soon be on the rise.

To celebrate the availability of gigabit speeds to rural Idaho, ATC recently awarded one lucky homeowner the chance to test drive Gig Internet free for six months. You can learn more about Malad City’s first ever Gigabit Home here.

We’re proud to support ATC’s FTTH initiative and congratulate ATC on becoming Idaho’s first Gig Certified Internet Provider from NTCA. Together, we’ll continue to provide state-of-the-art communications services and solutions along with a customer experience that is second to none. Congratulations, ATC Communications!
